Hi Kiya, I did history for my degree - medieval and early modern, hope to do my MA sometime, hopefully before I retire!
I've always been in love with Richard III but don't like the name enough to name a child after him! (Good thing about being in love with a man who's been dead for over 500 years is, you don't have to meet his parents!)
I completely agree - don't like faddy names, or even fashionable names, but like good, classical names. I can't really have much respect for someone that burdens a child with a ludicrous name, that it can't do much about until it's 18, by which time it's too late.
I read that in France, you can't have just any name you like, there's a list you have to choose from. Still at least it means you don't find your 13 year old introducing you to her French penpal, Pomme!
