Once again Colette, a nice piece of detective work.
As I said in my second or third post, a sense of humour is of some benefit to those who deal with me, I am not necessarily a "grump" but it gives me a little satisfaction to sometimes project this image.
My intent was merely to inspire some spirited debate without denting any egos. Hence my "sensitivity" in answering Lindsay who appeared to take unkindly to my original suggestion.
This was in no way intended to be spiteful Lindsay, and if I did offend you, you have my very humble apologies.
One of the things I have learnt of life is that, I would rather people thought I was a little "hard bitten" only to discover that it is not necessarily the case, rather than the reverse, if you get my drift.
Now back to naming of children.
I suppose I am essentially an "old geezer" with old values. For boys, I like manly anglo saxon names, Robert, Charles, William, etc., and for the girls my favourites are once again "older" feminine names, Grace, Claire, Katherine etc. I also like the giving of clearly identifiable local names, Scottish, Welsh ect where some connection exists.
I do however dislike the habit of some parents of giving their children unkind names, "Free Seagull" and "Boy", to name two of the most blatant cases I know of
