Hello,

William (Kaye) PARKINS, the son of Charles Parkins (died 1850) and Emma PARKINS (nee KAYE), was born c1846 Liverpool (Everton?). Other than a short 18 month holiday in Parkhurst Prison 03/1862 to 09/1863, and the 1851 England Census (HO107/2189/415, p.6), I have been unable to find further details.

Can anyone help please

There's a William PAGE Parkins in 1861 age 15 with mother Emma and siblings in Chaucer Place Liverpool. Maybe a mistranscription Page/Kaye ?

I think you may be absolutely right.......the "Kaye" was extracted from a very limited, and now misleading, Public Member Tree (no sources!!).....according to his prison records in 1862 he was a "Shop Boy" as per the 1861 Census so more confirmation.

That looks to be a different family.
1851 2181/672/9

William and Frances Parkins with children including William.

Charles Parkins and Emma Kaye married April 1841 @ St Philips, Liverpool.

Emma Parkins b 1847 mmn Keye

Thank you both for your help.

I believe I have the correct family, confirmed by the prison documentation, but there are so many detail variations. For instance, the 1861 England Census (RG9/2650/165, p.165) has the mother's Christian name transcribed as Jane (??). However, the remaining family details are consistent.

I shall keep searching

It's not easy to read! But definitely ends in an "a".

Have you seen the press reports of the remand and committal proceedings in January and February 1862?

I haven't yet found a report of the May 1862 trial.
