Same comments re age on marriage?

There are lot’s of John Hammond’s and lots more with middle names.  How long had he been the station master prior to it’s closure?

1939 lookups are not allowed here due to copyright issues.  There are far too many John Hammond’s to determine the right person without more info. 

In 1939 he may not have been the station master or even lived in Hoghton.

Hoghton came under Chorley registration district and there are no deaths for a John Hammond so he may not have continued to live in Hoghton after the station closed

There are only 2 marriages in the Chorley RD and they were 1965 & 1969

Thomas Windle was a booking clerk at Hoghton according to the above and was a relative of the owner of the blog.  Contacting her may yield some info

He should have been on electoral registers. Was there accommodation with the job or might he have lived outside Hoghton?

I notice that a request for info was posted on the Chorley Pals Facebook page back in December which doesn't appear to have yielded any results

he has found all the Station Masters at Hoghton from its opening in 1846 but is struggling to find details of the last one. Local newspapers recorded that a John Hammond was there at closure in September 1960, but little else.

From the research already done - what is the last known date for a station master?  For example - if it is known that Joe Bloggs was station master until 1950 - then that only leaves 10yrs for a search for Hammond

We know that John Hammond was Hoghton Stationmaster at its closure in September 1960. Unsure as to when he commenced.
