1821 Jane BRADLEY born either Bilsdale, Ovington or Thornaby, Yorkshire

Hi all

I've come to a dead end with my ancestor Jane BRADLEY.

We know that she married Thomas ALLEN in Houghton-Le-Spring, Durham in 1843 but before that her life is a mystery.

In the 1851 Census, she was born in Bilsdale, Yorkshire.  In 1861, Ovington, Yorkshire.  In 1871 Thornaby, Yorkshire (but that was where she was living so probably a red herring!)

Her marriage certificate is very badly written and her father's name is not BRADLEY,  could be GASCOINE.  His occupation is gardener.

Any help would be gratefully accepted.

I've attached a copy of the marriage certificate.

A little clarification;
Ovington is a village and civil parish in County Durham, England. Situated 8 miles (13 km) east of Barnard Castle. Lying within the historic boundaries of the North Riding of Yorkshire.

So Jane is likely illegitimate given the M/C information

There isn't any information on the Mother's maiden name for any of Jane and Thomas's five children.  Ann in 1844 born Co Durham or Thomas, Sarah Jane, Mary Jane and Frances born in Yorkshire between 1848 and 1859.

Mothers names are not on M/C.

I looked for a Bapt for Jane 1818-1823 in Yorks and Durham without much luck sorry.
Also tried to track her Father J G on Census in Yorks/Durham.
(only 1 bapt 1823 in Durham, Mother ANN, that I can find)

Hopefully someone else may be able to come up with something.
I only have limited access to records as I am in Australia.

Yes, GRO index shows Bradley for all the children.

Would be interested to know what the transcriber made of it.

Is it possible to find the residence at time of marriage in 1841 census? **

I was looking at the witness names to see if that helped.  There is a George Wilkie 35 in 1841 Hetton Le Hole who was a parish clerk.

** found it I think, just looking to see if any gardeners pop up, long shot but you never know.
