Overall I am trying only to venture back 3 further generations in direct parentage from my grandfather Henry Hamblin’s birth 1872.

To recap:
Its established the Hamblen migration to Hamblin surname begins with him.
His parentage has been established, father Jacob Henry Hamblen 1827-1874. Wine Merchant born Falmouth & civil partner Maria Elizabeth Beale 1849-1944 Born Pancras

To keep thread focused I wish only to look at his father Jacob Henry Hamblen his parents & grandparents for now.
Due to repetitive names. I think easier that I present a sketch image, findings from my  limited resources & ability ( GRO index & Family Search)- to be critically examined to dismiss error.

A plausible Elizabeth Burch’s birth the main obstacle encountered here.
Any light on this very much appreciated. Thanks.

There are plenty of column inches in the Cornish newspapers that include Jacob Hamblen and J Hamblen, Jun., in a group of Falmouth residents promoting the development of Falmouth and the railway.

JHH's father/grandfather?

Letter to the Editor - JHH's father rather than a 19yr old JHH?

Note - haven't checked back if you have already received this info.
Spotted a Jacob H Hambler (as transcribed), born 1828, Falmouth, wine merchant, address Hackney. Is this your JHH?

Thanks hanes teulu. Yes that is our Joseph Henry Hamblen. Thank you for all these  links and guidance towards the fertile press, haden't  occoured to me. Now have full entry to British newspaper archive' :) There is some real nuggets re. his father Jacob Hamblen available in Cornish press other than his high civic profile mentions.  :)

Back again.
I have been unable to find any reference to  Elizabeth Burch other than her marriage to Jacob Hamblen in 23/Nov/1823.
Jacob reports being widower in 1851, the earliest census I have - 1841 has not got his status bereaved or not, nor plausible  Elizabeth. It does make reference to an elderly Elizabeth, I assume his mother.

I would be grateful to gain any 1831 census details please? I think this would clarify things.
[Jacob Hamblens household,  Killegrew Street Falmouth] this would be very helpful presently.

Thanks for continued interest.

Re the '31 Census see para3 of
https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/census-records/

Have you checked Cornish OPC for burials?
There's an 84 yr old Elizabeth Hambly, Falmouth in 1842 and a 38 yr old Elizabeth Hambly, Falmouth in 1834.
They are transcripts.
