Steveforres: I'll bow out for now, I thought my James Beggs-Sarah Elliott lead was a good possibility, but let's see where the George McCullough - Fanny Stirling lead goes.  :)

George McCullough was my great-great grandfather.
George had a brother - Hugh (1835) he married Agnes Begg (1839) in 1859. Agnes died 1879 in Scotland. They had 7 children: Sarah, William, Samuel, Agnes, Elizabeth, Margaret and John.

I am back on the trail of the my McCulloch branch and still looking for further info for this family when they lived in Co Antrim.

My 3rd Great Grandfather was Hugh McCulloch and was born in Ireland around 1835 and died in Scotland sometime after his sons wedding Samuel in 1883 (because he wasn't listed as deceased on the wedding certificate).  Not been successful trying to find his death certificate yet and been searching the Scottish records with no luck.  Maybe he went back his homeland after the death of his wife,  Agnes Ann Begg in 1879? It's been a struggle for the last few years trying to find this piece of information.

From this information,  I was hoping to find his parents details as all I have is his father was William  McCullough and this came from his wedding cert to Agnes from 1859 in the Parish of Glenderry.   Hugh did have a brother called George McCullough (1841 to 1901). He married Fanny Sterling and both are buried in Kilwaughter Cemetery and i have seen a picture on line but it doesn't have any dates. Have also been looking for Georges death certificate and only have the year of 1901 that he died. Maybe his death certificate will provide his parents details that I am looking for?  I do have DNA links back to the decedents of George so I am confident I am looking in the right direction.

Their father William may have married a Helen ? as this was taken from another DNA connections family tree in this side of the family. This William could be connected to Hugh McCullough (Born in Ballymena, Antrim in 1810) and Jane Eliza McCullough (Born in Antrim in 1814) as I also have DNA connections back to this family. Their parents are listed as William McCullough and Margaret Graham.

I would be grateful to get any help or pointers to help piece this information all together.

In Ulster the name Ellen was used whilst in Scotland Helen was used more often, so if searching in Irish records check for Ellen as the Christian name.

Marriage of Hugh McCulloch to Agnes Beggs (1859)- the Parish is Glenwhirry not Glenderry-

Marriage took place in Ballymena Registry Office and Glenwhirry is clearly written.

I don't see a death anywhere in Ireland in 1901 for a George McCull*

There is a George McCullough, age 68 who died in 1915-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1915/05261/4459451.pdf
This looks to be the same George McCullough (married c1875 to Isabella)-
https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Ballyclug/Cross/122436/
Looks like this George McCullough can be ruled out as father is called David not William-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Thanks for this information too and this is the picture I have also seen of the grave but no clearer if this is the George that I am looking for. Thanks also for the other documents but not sure about the death certificate is for George unless I am wrong?

Could this be the George McCullough buried at Kilwaughter?

I see what you mean now once you piece it all together. Thanks for this info but still trying to find out his parents details

What doesn’t fit?
George McCullough m. Fanny Sterling
George died 1892-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1892/06022/4714647.pdf
1901 and 1911 Fanny is a widow, so George died before 1901 census-

https://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Larne/Drummond/195407/
Daughter Margaret Carmichael put up headstone-
https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/244051838/george-mccullough
Margaret married Carmichael in 1901-
