Edward Davies won the D.S.O. in the first world war in the mining battalion, and was my step grandfather (Ethel born 1897 was my grandmother). He was in the Somerset Light Infantry before the war and rejoined on the outbreak of war.
Ethels brother John Evans was in the Welch regiment and killed in the first world war in Egypt and is buried in Port Said war cemetery please refer to CWGC for details.
