I just spent nearly an hour typing my reply to this string and lost it

I am also as one of the Rootschatters who has posted Repeat posting this past week lets explain the reason behind it

I am trying to find info that I haven't got

the reason I need it is without it I cant move on

been looking for the same info for over 20 years

yes I have been to records office

places visited to find info

Cumberland .Scotland ,Ireland .

why do I  ask for lookups ?because  I have run out of ideas and I now need help  and I hope one day some one will read my message  and  will be able to help me

have I been helped ? yes many times by some truly amazing people who have gone that extra mile  and I am most grateful for all there help and encouragement without it I may have just give up. not only have I had help with researches I have also learned to use my computer  which I was not very good at .I just learned to copy and past a  couple of months ago
thats my winging over

Audrey

As I have said previously repeated look-up
requests can be annoying, but should be
tolerated. ( When I first posted I remember the
naivety.)

BUT abusive Personal Messages should NOT
be tolerated, what ever somones viewpoint.

Dont leave Falkyrn, Rootchat would be a
sadder place.

Hey, I think all you Rootschatters are wonderful!!!

Human nature being what it is, we are all going to have a bad experience sometime.  But there is so much help here, it massively outweighs any bad experience.  I can't believe how kind people are here!

Usually I am helped so quickly that my head spins.  I am aware of not making multiple postings, but if anyone has the 1841 census for Hull, there is a sad little unanswered lookup request from me on the East Riding Yorkshire board  :'(

Thats the best plug i have ever seen ;) ;) ;) ;D

In regard to altering a reply because the information given was later found to be incorrect.I was once advised(by a moderator) not to correct the post. That it would be best to send another post.Explaining the situation. If i ever which i haven't so far done, had to put the same inquiry on 2 boards (because two counties are involved )i would add the message. Also posted on the ?  board. If you ever receive a very rude and abusive P.M :o you must report it to the moderator by P.M. They will look into it.They ask you to.Do not keep abuse to yourself.

Mulitple look ups IMHO are requests for help, not  a demand to some kind rootschatter to drop everything and grab the nearest CD ROM.

Have you never reconsidered a posted message? If we must not change a post, then why have we got a modify button on the right. On occasions I have modified a post, as I have typed a quick message then realised it was not quite what I meant. (Is this a sin?)

I recently spent a lot of time mending a picture, another member did a far better job. As far as I was concerned the pleasure is in helping out. We can choose what we help with, Rootschat would still go on if I never mended another picture.or answered another query. I don't matter, its the group that is important and all the excellent work done by the combined knowledge of its members.

Gestalte theory anybody?

Blimey Meldrew, I had to google that one and words like complex and algorithm came up.  I'm going to stick to illegible handwriting and disappearing grannies, they are far easier to deal with  ;D ;D

The product of the efforts of a group of people is greater than the combined product of each person working alone.
