I'm afraid there's something wrong with this address. It's Redgrove Cottages, 4 Hatherley Lane. It's a listed building.

He left a Will which might give instructions about burial;  the address shown on the Probate details is as given in the original posting (except it is Redgrove and not Redgrave).

ERROR.....there is no Will, it was Administration to his widow. Apologies. :-[

You didn't mention that his death was registered in Devon - not Gloucestershire which could affect his burial place  ???

The probate entry shows he died in Paignton Hospital

Leonard died in Paignton Hospital, Devon, presumably whilst on holiday. It's always sunny here until October. I am guessing that his body would have been returned to Cheltenham.

Yes, his wife Elsie Winifred died on Monday, 1st December 1980 at Cheltenham, age 86.
I don't expect to find him buried with his wife as they appeared to have separated.

It seems that by January 1936 Leonard was no longer living with his wife Elsie. The Gloucester Journal reports on Saturday 19th January 1935 Elsie had applied to the courts for maintenance. She won the claim and Leonard was ordered to make payment.

You may want to amend the date of the newspaper report - they only married in 1921.

If they were separated by 1936 & he  died 15yrs later in Devon - why would Elsie spend what little money he left transporting his body back to Gloucs?

They are together in 1939??

Yes they married in 1921 at Twigworth, Gloucester.

The newspaper article about their separation should have read 1935 and not 1915. (Now corrected).
I think we can assume his children would have arranged for their father to be brought back to Gloucestershire don't you think. He had an address there. Also he did not have a Will so the Administration Bond only mentions his wife Elsie. So funds were available.

But where was he buried?
