Lookup Please - Ashbrittle/Stawley Parish Records
« on: Wednesday 24 August 05 11:44 BST (UK) »
I am looking to confirm the birthplace/date of my Great Grandfather - William Sprague, son of John (and Ann?) born in either Stawley or Ashbrittle around 1839.
Sprague is also listed sometimes as Sprage. Can anyone help?

Hi Susannahbedez
You should be able to work it out from this.
SPRAGUE John 54 Ag. Lab. Ashbrittle, Som.
Ann 50 Ashbrittle, Som.
Sarah 25 Ashbrittle, Som.
Elizabeth 20 Ashbrittle, Som.
Jane 16 Ashbrittle, Som.
Henry 12 Ashbrittle, Som.
William 10 Ashbrittle, Som.
Emma 9 Ashbrittle, Som.
Caroline 7 Ashbrittle, Som.
Matilda 5 Ashbrittle, Som.
this is from the 1851 census.
Good luck Jack ::)

Thanks Jack -

although I already had that - it is just that in the 1841 Census William is 2 and in 1851 - he is 10! Just wanted to try and pinpoint birth year, but maybe I just won't be able to...........

Regards - Susannah

Dear Susannah,

Sorry this email is a little late, given that you posted your message about our great great grandfather, William Sprague, in 2005, but it is only comparatively recently that I started genealogical research, and joined this site. I doubt that I have acquired as much information as yourself, but I have accumulated some which may be of assistance.

Dr Mark.
