Randwick General Cemetery, Randwick, NSW Percy and Byron HEATH
« on: Thursday 25 June 20 01:19 BST (UK) »
Hi

I have found that Percy HEATH died 26 August 1926 and was buried in the Randwick General Cemetery on 27 August 1926. Percy's son Byron Rupert Percy HEATH died 19 November 1964.

The Randwick Council staff have confirmed that Percy and  Byron are buried in Section BB, Plot 49  Church of England area of the Randwick General Cemetery and have advised me that they do not keep information in regard to headstones at the Cemetery.

I am wondering if any Roots chatter have records of the Headstone/memorials at Randwick, and if so could they check if there are any details of a headstone on the Heath grave.

Isabelle Heath the wife of Percy and mother of Byron died 20 July 1971 and was cremated at Botany, the online records reveal that her ashes where "collected".  I am wondering if the ashes were placed in the grave at Randwick, the council have no records on the placement of ashes in the grave.

I have checked Find A Grave and Billion Graves, with no luck. I have located the death/funeral notices for the family including another son Hilton who is buried at Macquarie Park, and have located a photo of his grave.

Many thanks
Cass

Latest news.

I have been in contact with the Randwick Council Library, the staff have been wonderful. They have searched a book in their Library  "Randwick General Cemetery : transcripts of monumental inscriptions" by June Adams. The lass tells me that it looks as thought Section BB has not been recorded in the publication, she is not sure if the section was accidentally missed or if there are no headstones in the Section. They have sent me scans from the burial register which confirms dates of death and burial.

So I am wondering if there is anybody who lives near to Randwick Cemetery who would be willing to have a look to see if there is a headstone on the grave and if so could take a photo for me.

regards

Cass

Hi Cass, I am a member of another genealogy site and I asked if any members lived near Randwick and would check the grave site for you.
A very nice gentleman went and looked and sent me a photo of the site. There is no grave or monument it is just a flat piece of ground between two graves. I tried sending the photo but I must have been doing something wrong as it didn't go thru.
Hope this helps
Mariona

Hi Mariona,

thank you so much, could you thank the gentleman for me, how kind of him.

To complete this branch of the tree I would love a photo of the site of the grave even if there is no headstone, so I have sent you a PM asking if you could send the photo to my email.

Keep Safe
Cass
