Yup, a few years ago I got tired of ADC demanding money from me to view near relatives uploaded images. So I started a FB group for the entire family tree, 'Muckedon' Co Westmeath Ireland

In it I created topics, with galleries of images, for each branch discovered through Records, Family History and DNA.

There is NO money charged to join a FB Group, nor to view our collection of images, photos, birth, death, marriage certificate images etc.

When Schwartzmann took over ADC the site began really nasty stuff like blocking me from MY OWN images! So I removed all of them from ADC. However one contact who is on ADC but does not want to share trees etc, and did need some of my images, so today I put the bare essentials back into my tree.

This solution is not for everyone, but it will take a few million out of Schwarzmann's pockets. That is pay back for being such a greedy nasty fellow. BTW FB has EXCELLENT s/w for managing your efforts.
Need to add to this point, it costs exactly ZERO anywhere in the world to have a Facebook account, and to create your family history group there. I have ALL my relatives who WERE on ADC now on Facebook. None of those needs Ancestry.com as a result, saving them gobs of money.

Hello fellow rootschatters,
I cancelled my Ancestry membership about a month ago, and became a 'registered guest', and hoped to rejoin using Sandra's special link. But it won't work for me (though it did a year ago).

When I tried the link it looked OK until I clicked on the tab at the bottom of the page to "buy" then a message appeared saying "There appears to be a problem with your purchase. Please try again later"

If I just open Ancestry.co.uk in the normal way there is a problem in that I can't subscribe by clicking on any "subscribe" tab - I just get a blank page! (The only way I can even see any normal prices is by going to the "my account" page and clicking on "gift membership" ). This has been the case since Saturday last.

Anyone else got the same problem?

Many thanks, Sandra - the link has worked for me yet again.   I have lost track of the number of years now.  Fantastic saving.

Great news. Long may this continue.

Have you persevered with the link ?

Have you tried to click the link when not signed in then logged in ?  - apparently this method works.

Come back to us if your still having a problem.
