Even better considering the conversion rate means I was charged $182 AUD for 12 months, when the Ancestry Australia subscription for World- wide would have been $250 for only 6 months.

You need to be signed in as a registered guest and then the link should work for you.

Try this way :-

existing users should ensure any previous subscription has expired first! This is important.
logout of Ancestry.
open a new window
use one of the links from above (UK or Worldwide)
the chosen discounted subscription will be added to your basket
existing users can then log back in to Ancestry to complete payment

When I click on the link without being signed in to Ancestry, the first thing it asks for is to create an account (or to sign in if you already have an account). You won't be paying someone else's subscription.
