County Kildare- Unclear Place Name On 1841 Record

Hello Roots Chat Members, 

  Would some kind person look at the attachment to see if they can determine the native place in County Kildare, Ireland from which Catherine Higgins nee Nowlan emigrated to Sydney, NSW, Australia per ship "James Mathieson" arriving in 1841?

There is a strong possibility that it is Coltstown.

There are these records. I am using an index from a subscription site but Catholic NLI records are free to use. You do need the information to search though.
Do you have her husband’s name?
There is a marriage here - Castledermot parish, 28th June 1832 - Catherine Nowlan and Daniel Higgins (Towards bottom of right hand page)

I can’t see a baptism for Catherine but there is a baptism here for Alicia (Alice) Nowlan with parents Brian Nowlan and Cavanagh of ‘Coltown’. Brian and Bernard are often interchanged. Right hand page

Thank you so much for your prompt reply, the information you have supplied has been especially helpful. 

Yes, the marriage of Daniel Higgins and Catherine Nowlan in 1832 at Castledermot is the correct one and you are probably right re Coltstown being her native place, as it doesn’t seem to very far from Castledermot.  Thank you for the information re the name Bernard aka  Brian. The 1841 immigration records do state Catherine’s parents as being Bernard Nowlan and Mary Cavanagh. Thank you for the additional information re the Tithe Applotments of a Brian Nowlan of Coltstown.
