I haven't heard of a Violet before. In one census her father is Albert and in another its Charles Joseph Albert Ridgway there is also a brother Albert in 1881.

There is an Albert Edward Ridgway birth June qtr 1902 Nuneaton 6d 517. No mmn given.
A bit like Elsie Maud no mmn given. Could that be the child.

No I haven't found him in 1911. I haven't found John Bartlett either. I wondered if Albert took his name until he got married. Wondered if like Elsie he was baptised a different name.

I've resubscribed to FindMyPast hoping I could search the census's but I wish now I had gone to Ancestry because the format is so hard to work out. I am finding it hard to find anything about any of the census's other than the 1939. On Ancestry its far easier.

That is brilliant at least now I know his birth year and born in Moreton Morrell. Should be able to find him in the others now, back on Ancestry as well now.

If you can't find him in 1911 - a possibility maybe, no age given but right name and occupation

John Bartlett
Marital status   S
Occupation   MINER
Departure 2 6 1909
Departure port   Southampton
Destination port   New York
Ship name   St Louis

I wonder if that's him in 1891 John Parllett in Moreton Morrell

Can you give the reference number please as I'm not finding him

Edit found him - RG12 Piece 2476 Folio 111 Page   8

So is this his birth entry?

PARTLETT, JOHN    mmn CHERRY
1882  D Quarter in STRATFORD ON AVON  Volume 06D  Page 604

Can’t see one c1883 in S o A for a John Bartlett

Well.

Ellen Cherry married Henry Rose 1872 reg Stratford A.
Ellen Rose widow of Bishops Tachbrook married David Partlett widower from Moreton Morrell in 1879

in 1881 they are in Newbold Pacey about a mile from Moreton Morrell
David and Ellen Partlett

So it looks like John's real name was Partlett not Bartlett as he thought most of his life.
