Hi NVB272
I haven't transcribed the letter but the issue he was writing about was that he had been told he would be recommended for a Military Medal following his actions in recovering the gun.
He says that he hasn't heard anything since the action and is asking if the person he is writing to "Dear Sir or Sirs" can look into it and "let me know if I am entitled to [???] {receive??} that honour".
I wonder if it's worth posting the letter on the Forces board as somebody on there will be more familiar with the terms being used in the letter and may be able to shine some light on the matter.
Somebody might even be able to find out if he actually was awarded the honour  :). I hope he did.
Regards DB10

Just to point out it's not 'translate' brinda. It's 'transcribe' when you are doing it in the same language.

Just having a look at the last bit, usually MM=Military Medal but maybe not on both times in this letter? just using caps to show my changes:

R? S? my No 1 SGT (sergeant) JENNINGS  m m of my Sah Section told me I was commended from the M. M. For the deed I had carried out and SAID I would hear about it later on, DEAR SIR I have not heard anything since that date and I am writing to ask you if you will please see into it for me I think it must have got delayed as I know my OC had quite enough on his mind that day and will YOU OBLIGE and let me know if i am entitled to have that honour until I receive it and OBLIGE.

I think his name might possibly be Spencer. At the top of the page, it is a lot clearer.

Best regards,
Karen

So I have just found  an army record for F. T. Spencer, rank Driver, Service no. 13128, Royal Field Artillery. (RFA).
Medals - Victory Medal and British War Medal - no mention of Military Medal.  :(

The problem with things like the MM is that the action involved has to be witnessed by an officer and the quality of the recommendation goes a long way to determine if the individual receives one. The mere fact that one has been put forward for such an award does not mean it will be given as seems to have been the case here. Or it could be that the recommendation never reached HQ.

Very true.

I would also be interested to know where this scan came from - if the letter is in private hands now, it probably never made it to the addressee...
