I have found that one relative was buried at Christchurh allonby - I don't have a clue on this but guess its Anglican.

The family details you found all tie in but on the 51 census before Francis was born her father was at sea this is the bit I'm really stuck on.

Hello, I finally got a copy of Walter Hallett's birth cert. to add to his wedding cert. His father was John and his mother was Harriett. Neither document gives her maiden name. I am tending to think Harriett Houldsworth noted above is his mother. The 1881 Whitehaven, Cumberland census shows a Harriett Houldsworth, born 1840, with a son Walter, born 1864, and a daughter Sarah Elizabeth Houldsworth?, born 1868, all living in household of Alfred Hallett, born 1859, and Agness, born 1859, and their daughter Mary H., born 1881.  The 1861 census for Gate Fulford shows the household of a Robert, born 1794, and Ann, born 1790, Hallett with a daughter {maybe in-law} Harriett, born 1840, with her daughter Matilda, born 1854, and son Alfred, born 1860.
I found the above Robert as a widow in 1871 Yorkshire census but I have not found Harriett in 1871 - yet. I am tending to think these are the correct people - or is that wishfull thinking at this point??

Are you still doing look ups in Whitehaven Archive?  If so would you be willing to do something for me please?

Edward CLARKE was the innkeeper at the Stanley Arms, Calder Bridge/ Ponsonby.  He died in November 1847 and his wife, Bridget died in 1856.  Can you look in the burial register for Ponsonby please to see if they were buried there?  I now know they weren't taken back to Bootle to be buried.

According to the IGI they christened 3 children at Ponsonby.  Lucy Oct 1841, Edward Sep 1843 and Isaac Jan 1846.  I believe the baby died the following September.

I'd be ever so grateful if you can do this but if not then please don't worry.

i am trying to find the burial place of my gg grandfather JOSEPH GILL
he died 21mar1877 and was living at parkgate, frizington
would that be in the area of whitehaven, he was born 1854 and died aged 22.
i visited frizington 3 years ago but couldnt find a graveyard to see if his grave still existed.

Although St. Paul's CofE is apparently used for things other than services (there's a cafe there for one thing), the graveyard is still in use. It's where I found the grave of my ggg grandfather.

The church is towards the bottom of the village, with the main entrance off Church St, though there is another way into the graveyard from Frizington Rd.

If you are still available to do look-ups in Whitehaven, would it be possible for you to check on the following person for me?

I'm looking for a Thomas Calder, born about 1795 in Whitehaven.  He moved to Maine and New Brunswick, Canada at some point.  He married Mary Pendleton on 22 February 1821 but I think that was in Canada.  He was a boatbuilder in New Brunswick.

I don't know his parents' names, unfortunately.  He was Protestant, I'm guessing probably Church of England back then.
