Hi again, Andrew

Yes, thanks... I now know what oxters are, thanks to Geoff's anagram. :) We have the same saying here... with the word 'oxters' replaced, of course.

Ta for now, Donna

P.S. I think a dialect thread would be a dandy idea! ;)

Thanks for your efforts.

I have been tempted by the entries in the 1881 census with data below but there is no mention of a John Hallett. Maybe he was deceased this early? If this were correct it seems to show his mothers family as well????

Opps. I said 15 years older in previous msg, but the head of household shown as Alfred was only 5 years older than Walter. Sorry.

rrtrrt

Theres something wrong there I think, I wonder if it should say brother? It does show a couple of errors, theres two related families there with different surnames (holdsworth)???

The following census finds Alfred in Newcastle, seemed to move about a bit

I have seen the bapt'm record for Robert, at St Nicholas's church, 1888 Feb 19th, to parents Walter and Sarah Jane Hallett, of 7 Mossops Buildings, High Church St, Walters Occupation: Engine Builder
Record Ref JAC383, P/R 107/19

I can't YET find any ref other than the wedding records of Walter (which I have got a copy of) - to this John.

I'll have another go on Friday.

Hi,
Continuing Thanks.  :)
Brother, Cousin, even Uncle could fit.
Maybe Harriet Houldsworth is Walter's mother? She shows up as a servant in the Gate Fulford 1871 census. Wonder why the younger Houldsworth gal is called a sister?
I just sent off for the birth cert. for what I hope is the correct Walter. I had a copy of his marriage cert. (Actually I gave it to my cousin whose mother is the Hallett in out family.)
I am going line by line through all the Gate Fulford census pages.

I don't  think any of their immedate family will recall if that is so, BUT I know that when Aunt Violet (Walter's grand daughter) married she was Catholic. On their marrriage listing, it said that Walter and Sarah Jane were married at the Church of St. Nicholas of the Established Church. On Robert's baptism record, St Nicholas is the site. That is all I have on that.
I got the downloads of these records. Thank You.

Hi

I don't know if your offer still stands?

I need to find birth details of Frances Lawson Hinds Born Maryport 1856 ish! I know her mother was called Frances born liverpool 1818 dressmaker and I know that her father was either a captain or master seaman (if there is any difference) He is not on the 51 or 61 census and then he died before the next one.

Do you have acces to the 41 census or brith details.

Many thanks
