Help Deciphering Marriage Record
« on: Saturday 23 May 20 01:03 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

Hoping someone might be able to offer some assistance please ...

I have found a marriage record as part of my family history research but I'm struggling to make out some of the details.  Specifically, the fourth line down with the address of the bride, the name of her parents and the little extra bit to the far right-hand side.

Can anyone make out the wording or take a guess at what it could be?

Thanks,
Ophelia_

14 Avenue Alder Rd

That's certainly what it says but it doesn't make much sense. There were no avenues off Alder Road or  in the near vicinity as far as I can see.

Is it definitely an A in Alder Road.  It is nothing like the other A(s) on the page.

Thank you all for your responses, it is much appreciated!

I had wondered if Mary had been married previously, so this information makes sense ... Very pleased to be able to add a little ore to my family tree with your help :)

Yes, I think that is what confused me about the address ... I thought it looked like "avenue" but it didn't make much sense!  I will have to keep an eye out for any further records which might clarify the address out of curiosity more than anything else haha.

Apologies for butting in, there were avenues of Alder road, there were the huts of the American army camp, the camp was specially built for around Ww1, you may get more information by joining the facebook group of Knotty Ash and Broad green history and memories, you will definitely get to see pics of what the camp looked like, good luck with your research. The huts were used for families when on longer used by the American army.

Best regards.
Jean Flanagan.

Isn’t Alder Road in Knowsley rather than West Derby?  :-\

It’s off Eaton Road and comes under West Derby, it used to come under knotty Ash. The camp was actually in Springfield Park Knotty Ash.
