died home or away please ?

Hi Please could someone help me out, I have been looking to find out if a George Senior who was a soldier ww1 died home or away . I have found a army pension ceft for his wife but seem to be stuck now.   He died from Lobar pnewmonia age 54 . He was a Lance corpral in the Royal defence corps . born 1864 wales, died 17th mar 1918 . service no/ 15468 thankyou very much in advance of any help you can give .

According to the CWGC site he is buried on the Isle Of Man and his date of death is given 17 May 1918 of pneumonia.

Thats brilliant thanks again . Would of not found him and its the isle of man which has surprized me too thanks for link great  bilge.     also thanks too Crumbie  this is diffinitely my man its sad to think he had to fight at his age ,but then again any age would have been awfull for them to go to war.

Burial at Kirk Patrick, 21st March 1918. Aged 55 years.

Address given as Knockaloe Camp - the Internment Camp.

He is unlikely to have fought in the war.  His service in the Welsh Regiment was in all probability in a home based garrison battalion many of which formed the basis of the Royal Defence Corps.

One of their tasks was the guarding of POW and internment camps which would explain the Isle of Man.

Thankyou everyone this keeps on getting better . Good information for my tree . His Grandaughter a lady in her now 80s never knew any thing about her grandfather so this story i will be telling her many thanks .thankyou chefman for post

The answer to your original question is:   Yes!

The UK Government at the time considered the Isle of Man as "theirs". So Home
BUT the Isle of Man has never been part of UK, GB, or England! So Away!
