Can someone help with 1871 Census Clackmannanshire Tillicoultry Registration District?
I'm looking for a Henry Paton b 1850 age 21

He's at 2 Hamilton Street.  Tillicoultry -  shown as 21, Fireman in factory, born Hamilton, Lanarkshire and with his grandmother Grace Simpson widow  81   Grocer.

I need to find a Henry Paton born Dollar Clackmannanshire in 1850.

Does the 1871 Census have any details on Grace Simpson? Where was she born etc.

Born 1790 - no birthplace on transcription

Henry is shown as b Fossoway  Perth.  Transcribed as Patas on Ancestry

What a variety of birthplaces! FindMyPast transciptions have

1861 - aged 11, farm servant, born Dollar, Clackmannanshire
1871 - aged 21, fireman, born Hamilton, Lanarkshire

It may be a concidence, but in 1861, in the same household, is Alex Paton, 17, born Kinross. Alexander Paton, aged 7, born Kinross, is one of three pauper children lodging in a house in Dunning, Perthshire in 1851.

There aren't many census records of Grace Simpsons. One is consistently in Shetland. Other than her there are
Grace Simpson, 50, born Scotland, in a household in Leith with William Simpson, 75, and William Simpson, 20.
Grace Simpson, 71, mother-in-law, servant, born St Cyrus, Kincardineshire, in a household in Arbroath with John Kay, his wife Mary Millar or Kay, 25, born St Cyrus, and four children.
Grace Simpson, 81, as above.

I think you need to look at the originals of those censuses, and maybe at Grace's death certificate?
