I might have found Ruth. After reading through old newspapers, I had a thought that Ruth never left NZ, with William. Have you heard of Ruby Dalton, alias Ruth Chalmers, alias Ruth Penn, alias Ruth Matilda Dalton?
I have changed my mind that the Ruth Chalmers I found on NSW electoral rolls is your Ruth - unless someone can confirm she is Mrs William Chalmers.

NSW electoral rolls do not provide any indication of the marital status of any elector.   They do not group people of the same address into households, nor do they indicate if the electors with same surname at same address are related to each other.  The purpose of all NSW electoral rolls is to provide the printed  roll of persons qualified to vote at the parliamentary election for which the roll has been printed.

It is speculation to say, for example, that John and Mary Citizen,  both of 12/345 High Street, Suburbia, are husband and wife.  Yes, likely they are related,  but could be mother/son or the widow of John's great grandfather's step brother .....  :D  :D  :D

Yeah thanks for that, Majim

I remember those two in my earlier attempt, fairly sure that William and Ruth ain't mine.

The other Ruth, that Val has found sounds familiar to my conversation with the PENN researcher.

Thanks again both of you.   :)
