Hello all,
Help please!
In 1874 Margaret Ball reported that she and family had arrived on James Gibb in October 1850 in Port Adelaide. (noted on her admission to Royal Adelaide Hospital)
Margaret, her husband William and family, were married in Middlesex in 1837 . They had about 6 children in England before coming to Australia where they had 7 more children.
The family doesn't appear on the official passenger list for the James Gibb. Were names left of  for any reason? It's a mystery!  Help appreciated.  Thank you. Dougmc

Hi Matthew again,

Would there any way of finding William and Margaret Ball's children who were also on board the James Gibb?
Are there departure lists from Plymouth?

Sorry for being greedy!

regards, Dougmc

Hi
I wonder if you had seen the information returned to to you on your post of May 27th 1919 in this forum.
Jamjar has linked it above.

It gives some history for this family including the birth of children in Wagga NSW.

You can see the birth of children covering years 1870 to 1777 and the dates do seem to place the couple in NSW not South Australia.

So my question is why do you think the Margaret BALLl in the hospital is the woman of your interest?

Of course she may have made a brief visit to SA and become ill while there then returned to NSW .
What other details are on the hospital record?

I've just noticed that The mother of the the NSW children was Elizabeth, not Margaret.
So now I am confused indeed.

Oh, right it is the son in NSW :P

Hi Margaret,
We have the official birth records of 7 children born in South Australia to William Ball and wife Margaret (Bailey).
First born in England (John Gow Ball) went to NSW at some stage.
The age for Margaret Ball at Royal Adelaide Hispotal is a perfect fit.
Another Margaret born in 1850 in
England..she died in South Australia also. She would have been a baby on the ship along with older siblings John Gow Ball, Ann Ball? William Ball , and James Ball.
I'll go back to those earlier links you mentioned too.
Thanks so much...
Dougmc
