Hoping for some assistance to determine if there is/was a memorial inscription for William SMITH whose remains were interred in St Thomas a Becket Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire 11 Jul 1790. I know very little about the family to date other than that William lived in St Martin's Parish. It seems William was financially comfortable hence thinking he may well have had a headstone.
The reason is I am attempting to discover if William’s wife is interred with him or near him. I know neither the date of her death or her name.
I think she was deceased before William’s death as she was not mentioned in his Will. William made provision for his three daughters; Lucy, Harriet and a daughter who married a SHIPLAND and who is deceased prior to 1790. The SHIPLAND children were mentioned as John SHIPLAND, Peter Winwood SHIPLAND and Lucy SHIPLAND.
I cannot locate baptisms for the three children and at this point in time a little lost as to a way forward hence the shot in the dark hoping some one has access to the burial records for St Thomas.
His eldest daughter Lucy married William BOWEN in 1776 so assuming Lucy was between 20 - 25 years of age at marriage indicating a birth around the 1750. This would then indicate a possible marriage for William SMITH also around the 1750's but this is just supposition.
William BOWEN was born 28 Mar 1748 lending some credibility to a birth around this time for his wife, Lucy SMITH.
