Help with my Jones's
« on: Monday 22 August 05 21:04 BST (UK) »
Hi, I need a little help.

I have David Jones aged 40 on the 1861 census with a house keeper Priscilla Hawkins aged 19.

Then I have David on the 1871 with Priscilla aged 30 as his wife.

Then on the 1881 David aged 60 with Ann his wife aged 40.

I have loked up the children and if, as appears from the census info, he married Priscilla first then Ann - Some of the children are showing as having the wrong mother when baptised!

Can someone please lookup a marriage for David and Priscilla, and David and Ann.

Maybe Priscilla and Ann are the same person as age and place of birth matches?  This has been suggested to me.

If anyone can help with marriages and possibly deaths for these people I would very much appreciate the input!

Joanne  :D

Lol - I can't believe I didn't already say!

The 1861 census info was in Llanartha, Clytha.

The 1871 census info was in Gwehelog, Usk.

The 1881 census info was in Near Pentwyn, Usk.

The children were born Gwehelog/Usk.

On the 1851 census David Jones aged 28 a cordwainer born Panteg was living with his mother Elizabeth 68 born Newport and down as married, sisters Catherine 35 and Elizabeth 31 and Catherine illegitimate son John aged 5.

Catherine married William Davies {see your 1861 census for David Jones}

On the I.G.I there is a baptism of a David Jones to a David Jones & Elizabeth Morgans that took place in april 1821 at either Trevethin Rehobeth Chapel or Pontypool Welsh Calvanist Chapel

I have the marriages for Monmouthshire and there is a marriage of David Morgan of Usk marrying Elizabeth Morgan of Gwehelog at usk 9 May 1805

If Elizabeth Jones is still married in 1851 and her hsubands name is David then he may be the David Jones in Abergavenny workhouse aged 71 born Llanwrtyd Breconshire who was down as a married man.

Dont forget to look at post above.

I have just checked the 1841 census for Clytha, Llanarth and yes David Jones is the father of David Jones, he was not born in Monmouthshire so he looks most likely to be him in Abergavenny workhouse 1851.

If you want the 1841 census images send me an email.

There is a an David Jones widower of Bryngwyn who married an Elizabeth Hoiskin of Llanarth at Llanarth 7.12.1817 another possible marriage.
