Cherry family’s of County Down

Hi
I’m looking for any Cherry’s in County Down that done family trees.
I am connected to the Cherry’s of Raffrey, Ballytrim, Ballyalgin County Down. Have you done a DNA TEST ON ancestry???
I’m also stuck on a few of my ancestors, I have always wondered are the Cherry’s of Clough, Ards, Dromore, Lisburn and Raffrey connected???
I would love to compare trees.

Yes I’ve done a DNA test on Ancestry and 23&Me.  I’m also on Gedmatch.  I recently did some research and I do think there is a Cherry link somewhere. My parents emigrated to the US in 1949. However, I am DNA related to Cherry’s that came over to the US in the late 1600s or early 1700s from what I can tell.  Also I’m related to some Cherry line from England that dates around the same time (although my Direct Cherry line in the 1800s are Irish Presbyterians.

Ok that’s great! is your surname Cherry? Because I don’t have many above 20Cm unfortunately. Where in Ireland were your Cherrys from? Yes all of mine are Presbyterian. My 4x great grandad was born 1798 but Im pretty sure his parents/grandparents also lived in the same area due to griffiths valuations.

Andy - yes. My Cherry’s are from Clough, Drumclaw in Down. My
GGGG GF James was born around 1800 and has a number of relatives, several of which I can trace a DNA connection to. I’ve an Ancestry tree bkcherry29 that is public or I can send you an email link to my tree if you aren’t on Ancestry. My best guess now is that the Cherry’s came over to Ireland in the 1600-1700 from England, probably during the Plantation period or before. Mine left Ireland for Scotland in the 1860-1870s.

One of my ancestors, a John Smellie married a Betsy Cherry, born cica 1811 in Northern Ireland.

Their daughter, Margaret Jane, born 1836, married an Alexander Gaston

Do you mean Drumcaw? There is no Drumclaw townland.

Yes.  That’s correct. Drumclaw.  Are you any relation ?  Would love to find more details on the Cherrys in Ireland.
