Thompson-Greenshields
« on: Saturday 18 April 20 01:53 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information about the parents and siblings of George Washington Thompson born 1787 in Greenshields, county Antrim.. He married Jane Calbraith in 1815 and in 1820 they migrated to the USA where they settled and he died in Manchester, Illinois in 1840.. I have some information his parents may have been John Thompson(1755-1826) and Elizabeth Ferguson(1765-1832).  Any information will be greatly appreciated.

There are 2 places called Greeenshields (or Glenshields) in County Antrim- Greenshields Lower & Greenshields Upper- just outside Ballymoney-

I suspect that "Jane Calbraith" was actually Galbraith.

The period you are looking for is well before the start of civil registration so you need to look at church records, etc. (which may or may not survive- and bear in mind that not all existing records are available online). Have a look at Bill MacAfee's wonderful site which covers that area of North Antrim.
