Earlier births from the same book (listed backwards in time)
Img 512, entry 35.  House 16, b. 14 (reg 15) August 1892 Georgiy,
father Nikolai Medved (Vasilie), mother Euphenia Guralek from Shishkovci

Img 494, entry 32.  House 16, b. 27 (reg 29) June 1890, died 5/1(?)/1891 Fevronia
father Nicolai Medvig (Vas.) mother Eufimia née Guralec

Img 475, entry 21.  House 16,  b.10 (reg 12) April 1887.  Agafia
father Nicolai Medvig (Vas.) mother Eufimia née Guralec

Img 468, entry 17.  House 16, Timoteiu, same details

Img 458, 2nd entry.  House 16, b.29, reg 30 March 1884 Maria.  Note says died 1/3 1895.

So your Maria was given the name of a daughter who had recently died aged 10.

There are at least 4 different Medved/Medvig families with children registered in that period, and on the earlier ones the "midwife" named is one  Alexandra Medvig - some relation?  Also the earlier entries are written in Romanian and easier to read than the ones in Russian.

Later I will look at the later dates for more siblings.
Rutter, Sampson, Swinerd, Head, Redman in Kent.  Others in Cheshire, Manchester, Glos/War/Worcs.

I didn't find any younger children born after 1895 up to 1901.
But some earlier ones including your Vasilie, he is possibly the firstborn, named after his grandad, 15 years older than Maria who was the youngest I found.

From the same book as my earlier post:
Img 442, 1st entry.  House 16, b 18 bap 21 January 1882 Ioan. Note says he died 2/2 1917.
Img 430, 7th entry.  House 16, b. 29 bap 30 April 1880.  Vasilie

I noted that the dates I listed as "reg" are actually the baptism dates.

House 16 & 65, 26 Oct 1878,
Nicolai son of Vasilie Medvig of Iujineți, age 23.
Eufimia dau of Alexi Guralec and his wife Maria née Polevanciuc of Iujineți, age 22.

Medwed/ Medvid means a bear

Nicolai Medwed and Eufimia Medwed nee Guralik most likely were Ukrainians (or Rusyns/Русины, as they used to call themselves back in the 19th century in Galicia)

Records on p. 541 are in Russian, it's the old orthography

Since Yuzhinets is in Chernovtsy region of Ukraine now, you can send a request for a genealogy search to the Chernovtsy State Archive, they do it for charge

The archive's website:

<Выбрать язык> in the upper right corner - here you can switch to English

The list of requests accepted by the Archive for charge
