Hello! More about William Sharp born in Oundle son of John, a shepherd living at Barnwell, & Chalotte Throssell. UK, Prison Commission Records, 1770-1951
Wm Sharpe Marital Status: Married; Criminal Admission Age:27; Record Type:   Register; Birth Date:abt 1820
Birth Place: Stoke Dial Nr Oundle Northpp; Occupation: Farm Laborer; Criminal Charge: Killing Sentence: 10 Years; Criminal Admission Date: 24 Sep 1847; Criminal Admission Place: Middlesex, England; Jail: Pentonville Prison; Father: Ino Sharpe; Source Description: Pentonville Prison, Middlesex: Register of Prisoners; more details:  in prison 11 months, 4 days; admitted 24 Sep 1847 at Millbank; he was married with 2 children, was a labourer; to his charge, he was tried 8 Apr 1847. To have 2 children by 1847, he will have married by or before 1845. Since he was in jail in Middlesex, he may have married there, or in Northants or any point in between. He had sibs who had moved to the London area, so he might have gone to Middlesex because of that. He wouldn't have been free until 1857. If he was transported, I haven't found it.

Perhaps this is him or perhaps not: 1841 West St, Oundle, Northamptonshire
William Sharpe, 21 c1820; Sarah Sharpe 24 c1817; John Sharpe 1 Month c 1841
Marriages Mar 1840 : HENSON, Sarah  Thrapston Dist vol 15 page 477 & SHARP, William. The district Thrapston spans the boundaries of the counties of Huntingdonshire and Northamptonshire. A John Sharpe bap at Great Gidding, Huntingdonshire 6 Jun 1841

I found another William Sharp: Baptism Date: 25 Feb 1811, Baptism Place: St Leonard, Shoreditch, Hackney, Middlesex, England parents: John Sharp & Charlotte Sharp of Hoxton Town.

A DNA test would determine whether the Australian William Sharp is the Oundle one or the Shoreditch one.

I did a DNA test, that is how I was able to prove that William was my great grandfather, as his wife, in Australia, left him for someone else and had more children.   My grandfather was used both husbands' names.  I grew up with the second husband's surname.  Our William was definitely the Oundle one.  I connected to descendants of Williams siblings in Canada, Western Australia and one that is still in the Oundle area.
