Getting images off Smartphone

Please . . . does anyone know if it’s possible to get photos off a smartphone (Moto 7 Power) onto a PC without having to use the ubiquitous Google way?

Have you tried plugging the USB into the charging slot on the phone and reading it like a hard drive?

I agree. I've tried most of the methods but e-mailing is often the fastest.

That's what I do!
I then open Windows Explorer and navigate to my phone - which shows under External Devices.
