I'm sure if I delve into the darkest recesses of the cupboard I can find a !970s Vesta Curry(the one with raisins) and a half empty(and therefore half full) bottle of Cinzano Bianco(left over from the house warming party).These could be consumed to the strains of "There's a kind of hush all over the world tonight" by The Carpenters.
Anyone able to do a yellowhammer impression("A little bit of bread and no cheese")?

Thank you all so much. The one thing we must not lose is a sense of humour. As I said to a young, in the Wine & Spirits aisle this morning ' Did no one ever explain 'NEVER to get between a woman and her bottle of red wine'.  Happy to bring that and I do have haggis, neeps and tatties.  Keep safe and well isk

Apologies for arriving late at the party, because of looking after poorly daughter.  However, the good news is that she's feeling a lot better - and fingers crossed that surgery goes ahead on 26th but as they're living from day to day, there's no certainty of that.

Music appropriate for the party - how about Muse (once described as 'Queen for the 21st century') and their Apocalypse Please, the lyrics of which include:

As far as food and drink are concerned I'm not sure I could match Roger's Vesta curry and Cinzano (yuk yuk - that is SO 1970s  ).    I do have a few litres of cherry wine made two years ago which should be interesting by now;  and as I'm involved with one of the few working water-mills in Wales, I'll bring along some nice home-made bread.

Vesta Curry I looked it up and they still sell it. I also remember Vesta Chow Mein, thats still available as well. Perhaps I'd better stock up on those, I don't suppose many people will.

Sure I can find something to bring to the party - my song offering is:

'We are the World' by USA for Africa (written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie) in 1985.

I know it was a charity single to raise money for African Famine Relief but just listening to the words now they seem particularly apt.   Got a lump in my throat just listening to it again.    Many familiar faces singing, some no longer with us.   Watched/listened on youtube - afraid I'm no good at providing the link though.

Or possibly the New Vaudeville Band (1966)?

I am reminded, Roger, of my student days when I worked in a nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights.  Watneys Red Barrel was 2/6d a pint -  or was that a gallon?     It's a very long time ago, when we were  all young and beautiful.....
