Thanks for the replies and confirmation that the date should be around the 1920's. However, I suspect that the event is something to do with a royal visit to the village with the welcome sign and union jacks flying?

It could be 1930's. I'm wondering if King Edward VIII passed through Crynant on his two day tour of  South Wales coal towns and villages in November 1936.

The presence of cloche hats worn by children and ladies suggests a 1920s date as suggested earlier. It does look like a royal visit but I can't find anything online to support this.

My first thought was 1920's too, but there are only a few cloche hats in the picture and they have the brims turned up so I do think it could be 1930's.

The brim on the cloche hat had disappeared and gone out of fashion by the early 1930s Shaun...however, it could be early 30s.
