Margaret Richardson from York. Could you please give me a date.

Hello, I think the lady with the heart shaped hairstyle is Margaret Richardson from York. The children don't help as I'm not sure who they are. If it is Margaret she was born in 1892 and died in 1919. I think the other photograph of the lady with the overlarge bow in her hair is her sister Elizabeth Richardson born in 1895. Both women look as if they are in their early 20's, but the styles look totally different to me. Do the style of clothes and hair fit with 1910's? Please could you date both photographs for me?

I would say the first one is Edwardian and the second one around 1915 give or take a year. They look like they could be sisters.

Depending on the dating, is it possible that the young woman in the second photo is the girl on the left of the first? I see some similarity in the hair.

Agree with Carol (sort of).
The 1st. is around 1908-10. This (exaggerated) hairstyle which was combed over a frame to get this effect was a short lived creation from around this time.
She's also wearing what was commonly called a pigeon-breast blouse which had just about had it's day by 1910.
As a piece of useless information this was taken in a photo booth & the light clothing indicates the summer months.
She looks late 20's-early 30's.
The 2nd. is around the same time & the length of her skirt indicates around 17/18.
They looked like they needed some tlc so gave it a bit of a go.

Margaret Richardson was married in 1911, I didn't notice the wedding ring, so just outside your dates. If somebody was wanting to be that fashionable with such an extreme hairstyle I can't see she'd have it a few years after it was fashionable, so maybe this isn't Margaret. Saying that, this is a family of lower class tradesmen who live in a small terrace house, so bad that it was cleared in the 1960's, so maybe she'd only just caught up with the fashion. Thank you for the extra information on the photo booth, hairstyle, blouse and summer. I loved the explanation on how to get the hairstyle.

The fashion seemed to have changed very quickly between the first photograph and the second.  I don't have, and have never seen, the original photographs so I don't know where they were taken.

The TLC you gave to the photographs was amazing. Apart from replacing missing/damaged bits of the photos it seems to have picked out more details.  I had enough trouble minimising the photo to be able to send them.
