Tracing nursing homes

Hi. I'm trying to find a nursing home that was around in the 1960s but is no longer there, I know the street it was on but I have no idea how to get any information on it. I don't know if it was council or privately run. I think it was next to a church. Can anyone give meany pointers? I'm relatively new to family history. Thanks.

Hi,
Welcome to Rootschat
If you post the street and town it might be possible to find its name ie. in newspapers.

I'd suggest local library to whichever town it was, especially as you know so many details, the street etc., or a quick e-mail to the local Council Offices/Town Hall?
Threlfall (Southport), Isherwood (lancs & Canada), Newbould + Topliss(Derby), Keating & Cummins (Ireland + lancs), Fisher, Strong& Casson (all Cumberland) & Downie & Bowie, Linlithgow area Scotland . Also interested in Leigh& Burrows,(Lancashire) Griffiths (Shropshire & lancs), Leaver (Lancs/Yorks) & Anderson(Cumberland and very elusive)
