Gumley - Richard Boddyle
« on: Thursday 05 March 20 14:20 GMT (UK) »
I'm researching this man and find that several family trees on Ancestry have his birth as Gumley, November 1604, son of Edward, but none of them have provided any source and it doesn't appear on any online site. So if someone is able to check the records for me to see if this baptism actually exists, I would be very grateful.

I'll have a look on familysearch when I get to the library as Leicestershire parish records are on there.

You can search them from home, you just need to be registered with family search

As I mentioned in my original post, the record doesn't appear on any online site - that includes family search, so please don't waste your time.

Hi Blackpool

According to Familysearch, The baptism records are available from Parish Chest. Unfortunately, that site is being rebuilt as it is merging with The Family History Federation. Strangely, The National Archive site says that Leicester records office only has the registers back to 1685, but parish chest reckon they have them going back to 1595.

Regards
Jon

Leicestershire PR’s and BT’s are available on FindMyPast for Gumley

Although I will add that the BT’s have years missing - 1604 being one of them.

But the following entry can be found in the Parish Register

“Richard Bodley the son of Edward was baptised November”

No definite date given.
