Hi
Thanks for your interest and checking this out for me.

His mother didn’t remarry as you saw and she died 1895 in Derry
There were 5 children in all (born in Derry)
between 1859-64 - 2 girls & 3 boys

MARY A (1859/1840) married FERGUSON died Glasgow
SARAH (1861/1884) unmarried died Derry
DANIEL  (1862/1912) married twice - he & both wives died Derry
THOMAS (1863/1847) died Derry (my Gt. Grandfather)
DENNIS (1864/ ?

I’m wondering did he die and wasn’t recorded but there’s no burial record for him in the Cemetery either.  His mother had a lot going on, with her husband dying the same year as Dennis was born, and being left singlehanded to cope with rearing 5 children aged 0-5 yrs!

I’m wondering was he given to someone to bring up for her?  Although not a formal adoption, he may have adopted their name?  I was hoping to find him elsewhere, it would have been easier!

Have checked Scottish Records as his sister, Mary Ann, went to live there - no joy.  Can’t find in UK either.

Not sure if this is the right Denis Carey as I can't see much detail in preview but... (your Denis would have been about 12)
Derry Journal, 23 June 1876: STONE THROWING. Four boys, named David Williams, Denis Carey, George Hamill, and George O'Donnell, were ... throwing stones …

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

😂 Saw this last night too.
Hope he would have better manners than that!  😂
I find a lot of those old newspaper reports don’t have addresses so it’s difficult to ascertain if it’s the right link or not.  If it were him, it would prove he was still around and still carrying the name Denis Carey.
Thanks for checking.
