Thomas Danby
« on: Friday 28 February 20 16:51 GMT (UK) »
I have a Thomas Danby born about 1780 Leeds, who marries a Martha Driver nee Buck in 1807 Leeds they have 4 children
Edward born 1810 Leeds
John 1813 born Briggate
James born 1816 Briggate
Anne born 1818 Nelson Street Leeds
Martha dies 1840 widow of Thomas in St marys Workhouse
In 1817 directory Leeds has two Thomas Danby
Thomas Danby Call Lane hairdresser
Thomas Danby Nelson Street haircutter/toyman
My Thomas on his marriage certificate is a hairdresser.  On his children's he is also a hairdresser. If i have the right Thomas Danby then he should be dead before his last two children's marriage certificate and he isnt.
There is an internment for a Thomas Danby 1820 Leeds son of a William and Ann Danby who lived at Nelson Street. This doesnt mention his wife though just parents.

I cant find Call Lane to see if the address is in Briggate I think Nelson Street is though.
What is the difference between a hairdresser and a haircutter?

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Do you mean when his last two children got married their marriage certificates did not mention he was dead or are you working from other information.  If the former then don't rely on a marriage certificate giving this information about a father, it is unreliable.

 Hi nessa,

My name is Paul Jones, I am researching my family tree and came across your post on here about Edwin, but then did'nt find it again so thought I would try this way.

My great Grandad John David Jones married Rose Jones,,, Mary Jones who married Edwin Thomas Ashmore was my Great Aunt, So looking at your posts, you say this Jones/Ashmore is your family also.

It would be great to catch up and see how Family's
 meet in our Ancestry.
Regards Paul.
