Great Grandfather Patrick Foley
« on: Thursday 27 February 20 01:07 GMT (UK) »
I have traced my great grandfather to Cloonbannin East Cullen Parish. This info came via his gravestone in Newmarket. Family diaries also show a connection to the town lands of Bawn More and Kippagh and there is a Patrick Foley in the townland of Bawn More. How can I differentiate. I can't find anything about the Bawn More Foley but have brothers and a sister of the Cloonbannin one

Yes. I believe that Johannes is my grandfather  John who emigrated to New Zealand in 1878.
ONe search  had two brothers Patrick (baptised Kilmeen 10.6.64) and Daniel (5.2.87) and a sister Julia (20.12.69) I am trying to track these siblings who we understand went to America.

You can look for births, marriages and deaths from 1864 in the Civil Records on Irish Genealogy
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
You just need to prove your not a robot and sign it.
Despite the difference in date (not unusual) appears to be Julia birth cert
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1870/03353/2229415.pdf
not all images of death certs are online yet.

other wise if they did go to America you won't find anything from when they left in Irish records.
You'll need to look in America.
FamilySearch (free) is worth a try or the likes of Ancestry of Find My Past if you have a subscription.

I had relatives living in Kippagh townland during the time period mentioned in your posting. They had relatives named Foley that emigrated to the area you mentioned. Do you recognize the names McSweeney or Collins?

As Sinann posted...

You can look for births, marriages and deaths from 1864 in the Civil Records on Irish Genealogy
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

Birth Certs show mother's maiden names...

ALL Civil Reg Birth, Marriage and Death results for Foley of Kanturk from ? to 1890

Click births or Marriages as needed  right click on 5 or 6 names and open them in New Tab, much handier.

Change Surname as needed.

Patrick   10.6.64  and a sister Julia 20.12.69  and Daniel  5.2.87  looks very suspicious... 5 yrs between births then 18 years to next!!

With Lockdown etc it is an ideal time to sit down and research them rather than having a few bits posted for you. Then if one sees one of theirs on some family tree one has ability to check if they are correct or not etc...

Most importantly...  Wash hands regularly!!!   ;D

Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
