Photos Of Ancestors In The War

My great-great grandfather, Ernest Gilbert Croshaw (born October 2nd, 1886), served in the Royal Naval Air Service; his service numbers were 231819 and F31819. Is there any way I can find a photograph of him, as there are none in my family's albums?

Also, for my other great-great grandfather, Charles Victor Jackson (born in 1911 in Leeds); I think he was a seaman, but I can't find photographs of him either.

Probably the most difficult ask there is!  There was no formal service run individual photo system so your best hopes would seem to be local newspapers or group photos with the people named.  For the latter you need to know what unit they were in.

Ernest seems to have been at the Seaplane Station at Rosyth for all his service Jun 1917 to early 1919 first when in the RNAS and then the RAF.  A possible avenue might be the Fleet Air Arm Museum.

What sort of a seaman was Charles Victor Jackson  If Royal Navy then there are no on line records to find out his ships, you'd have to start by applying for his service record.  If he was a merchant seaman then there should be a Board of Trade  register ticket which sometimes has a photo but he doesn't appear in the National Archives registers.
