If Martha, James Vickers' wife died in 1856 here are possible 2nd marriages for James with a wife called Jane.
1857 Jane COURT  Bolton Christ Church*
1860 Jane TRAVIS  Bury Registry office or registrar attended
1861 Jane WROE Bolton Emmanuel
(Lancashire BMD)
*Joseph Gale and Mary Cort also married at Christ Church. Marriage register not on LAN-OPC.
Were Jane COURT and Mary CORT related?

Mary Jane Vickers Gale as Mary J Vickers on 1861 census with her father James Vickers
living 2 Naisby Court Little Bolton

James Vickers   Head 42 Bolton twiner & setter
Jane Vickers   wife 32 Preston
Jonathan Vickers son 16 Bolton
Mary J Vickers   dau 2 Bolton
Piece:   2823 Folio:   73 Page Number:   35

This might be Jane's baptism, assuming that her maiden name was COURT which is so far unproven.
22nd August 1828 St John, Preston
Jane COURT child of John & Margaret
Abode Turkshead Yard; occupation labourer

Her siblings:
Henry 1823; Mary 1825; Ellen 1832. All baptised at St. John's church. Abode for all was Turk's Head Yard or Turk's Head Court. Father's occupation changes; 1823 housekeeper, 1825 coachman, 1832 warehouseman.
1833 burial of Margaret aged 40, abode Turk's Head Yard.
1836 burial St. John, Preston, John Courte age 46

Marriages:
1845 St. John, Preston
Wiliam Crook, abode Bolton
Agnes Court age 27
Bride's father late John Court, warehouseman

1846 St. Mary, Lancaster
Henry Court
Elizabeth Lishman
Groom's father John Court, warehouseman

If this is correct family, Mary and Jane were orphaned as children. They may have moved to Bolton with Agnes when she married.

Btw Turk's Head Yard was already known to me through researching my Preston ancestors. A 3xGGF was lodging in the next yard but one on the night of 1851 census. Both were unsavoury places in more than one sense of the word. The Turk's Head got a few mentions in "Preston Chronicle". There's a website about old Preston pubs.

Following Agnes & William Crook to Bolton. They had children there.
Baptism 4th Oct. 1846 St. Peter & Paul, Bolton
William CROOK son of William & Agnes (COURT)
born 17th Sept.

Burial 29th March 1863 Tonge Cemetery, Bolton
James CROOK age 20 months. Son of William & Agnes
Died at Bark St. Parish removed from: Little Bolton

Henry Court and wife Elizabeth also moved to Bolton. Daughter Margaret aged 2 buried 24th May 1854 St. Peter, Bolton. Coincidently another Margaret Court, aged 1, daughter of a Jane Court was buried 31st May. Birth regs 1852 & 1853 Little Bolton sub-district.

In case original poster thinks I'm off on a tangent, I'm trying to establish links between Mary Gale/Court and Jane Court.
