I notice Mary Jane Vickers GALE's marriage to William John VOISEY on 26 Dec 1881 at St John the Baptist, Liverpool has her father Joseph GALE. I wonder if this is what she believed, or whether made up for the marriage?

I think James Sutcliffe VICKERS is the son of James VICKERS (weaver) and Ann SUTCLIFF married 3 Nov 1805 at St Peter, Bolton. (from Lancs opc)

They had a number of children including James (baptised 1819). The other boys who could possibly be the father of Mary Jane GALE are Walter (bap 1835), Edwin (bap 1827), Nicholas (bap 1824), Thomas (bap 1814), John (bap 1808) and Richard (bap 1807).

Walter is still with his parents in 1851

Walter, Edwin, Nicholas and James are with their parents in 1841

I've just reported this to a moderator. It needs to be in the Ford Cemetery look-up offer thread. For some reason the thread was moved to main Lancs enquiries. I've reported both. The Ford thread needs to go back to look-up offers and this needs to be added to the end of that thread to make sense.

As Deodar is asking for information about Walter VOISEY, and found info about the cemetery details of Walter and Catherine on the previous thread, I think it's fine that the request is on the Lancs board.  :)

There is a Walter VOISEY (a carter) born c1891 in the 1911 census with father William (cabinet maker) at West Derby
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XWT2-WDY

and in 1901 (with brother William):
William J Voisey      42       Liverpool  (cabinet maker)
Mary Voisey             42       Bolton
William J Voisey       16      Liverpool
Ellen Voisey             15       Liverpool
John Voisey             12        Liverpool
Walter Voisey         10         Liverpool
James Voisey             7       Liverpool
Thomas Voisey        5        Liverpool
Charles Voisey         1       Liverpool

Does this sound like the right family?

The thread is in offers and it's not an offer so it needs to be moved so a mod report was the right thing to do.

There is a William VOISEY married Mary Jane GALE in December qtr 1881 registered at Toxteth Park (8b/501). on FreeBMD (free to search)
https://www.freebmd.org.uk

Lancashire BMD index has Mary Jane Gale as Mary J.V. Gale.
This looks like her baptism at St. Peter, Bolton.
13th Nov. 1859 Mary Jane Vickers Gale daughter of Mary Gale, Spinster. Abode Little Bolton
www.lan-opc.org.uk

Is this death of Mary Jane Vickers Gale’s Mother Mary Gale?

from Lancashire OPC
Mary Gale age 34 occ washerwoman
Burial 14th Jan 1860 Tonge Cemetery
Died 1 Naisby Court Bark Street Little Bolton
Burial Div 4 Sec Y 42

and is this

Mary Jane Vickers Gale as Mary J Vickers on 1861 census with her father James Vickers

Familysearch has this family transcribed as VIKERS, but give James' occupation as "turner and fitter" which makes more sense compared to other censuses.   :D

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NFFF-6B9

May be completely wrong here, but I wonder - there is a Joseph GALE married Mary CORT (or GORT) in Jun qtr 1850 Bolton. They have a daughter Elizabeth bap 14 July 1850, and are at Cross ST, Bolton in 1851
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SG5S-P31

Joseph dies aged 29 at Back Bark St, and buried 12 July 1857. Then, as mentioned previously a Mary GALE dies aged 34 at Naisby Court, Bark St and buried 14 Jan 1860.

I assume this is Mary Jane Vickers GALE's mother, though the "spinster" on the burial record could be a mistake and should read "widow".

I can't seem to find Mary Jane Vickers GALE's birth registration?  ???
