Walter was married to Catherine Schomberg, yes I have seen the marriage certificate. The marriage took place 26th November 1917 St Mary of Angels.
Liverpool. I really want his ancestry as I got a bit stuck. Believe his father was William.

Was his father's name on marriage certificate?

There is a William VOISEY married Mary Jane GALE in December qtr 1881 registered at Toxteth Park (8b/501). on FreeBMD (free to search)
https://www.freebmd.org.uk

Lancashire BMD index has Mary Jane Gale as Mary J.V. Gale.
This looks like her baptism at St. Peter, Bolton.
13th Nov. 1859 Mary Jane Vickers Gale daughter of Mary Gale, Spinster. Abode Little Bolton

In 1891, William VOISEY is in West Derby:

William Voisey      32
Mary Jane Voisey 32
William J Voisey     6
Ellen Voisey           4
John Voisey           2
Walter Voisey       0
Thomas J Voisey    Brother   22
James Vickers        Father In Law    72
RG12/2989/ 14 pg 21

I don't think this means  James VICKERS was Mary Jane's father though. You can see them in the 1881 at Mill St, Toxteth Park:
James S Vickers      61    Bolton Le Moors
Mary Vickers          44    Liverpool
Williams Vickers    22     Liverpool
Sarah E Vickers     14      Liverpool
Thomas Vickers    12      Liverpool
Mary Jane Gale  Niece    20   Bolton Le Moors
RG11/3636/62 pg 12

Thank you, I am new to this site so sorry to have caused some problem. I will need to study this as it is always a problem with so many people in one family tree having the same names 🙂 thanks again Maureen

You haven't caused a problem at all.  :)

Interesting marriage - James Sutcliffe VICKERS and Mary Ann VOISEY Sept qtr 1873 Liverpool (8b/188). Familysearch has this marriage 3 Aug 1873 with Mary's name "CORKSON or VOISEY".

That's intriguing. Perhaps James Vickers was pretending she was his niece.  Mary Jane was Mary Jane Vickers Gale at baptism. I don't know if that signified that her father's surname was Vickers or if Vickers came from her mother's family.
There was a Mary Gale of Little Bolton buried 14th January 1860 in Tonge Cemetery, Bolton. She was a 34 year-old washerwoman. Died at Naisby Court, Back St., Little Bolton.
Added. Just seen your latest post maddy. This is convoluted but interesting.  ???

So William John Voisey's widowed mother married a relative (uncle) of his wife, Mary Jane? "Father in law" on 1891 census might have meant stepfather. I've seen father-in-law instead of stepfather before.

Yes, I think that is right. Mary Ann COOKSON  married Thomas VOISEY in 1858, then married James Sutcliffe VICKERS in 1873 after Thomas died. Her son, William John VOISEY married Mary Jane Vickers GALE, who is described as "neice" to James.

Mary Ann COOKSON born c1836 is the daughter of John COOKSON (joiner) and Mary Ann FULFORD. They were married in 19 July 1824 at Liverpool and had 13 children between 1825 and 1851.
