What Building is this?

Just a shot in the dark.  I was wondering if any of you members know this building my mother is standing outside.  Probably about 1935 - 1937.

From your post about her service in WW2 I can see she was born in Islington RD and married in Stoke Newington RD in the mid 1940's.  Where do you have her living in 1939 or had she already 'joined up'

My mother was working at the GWR Reading in 1939.  1937 she was in Halton.

Halton Cheshire / Halton Buckinghamshire  :-\

To be honest the chance of recognising where that photo was taken are pretty slim

Looks like she is stood in the doorway of a house, dressed up to go out. Do none of your relatives have any idea where it might be or similar photos to compare it with? There are no identifying features to enable random strangers to guess at where it might be.

It may be her home . Or lodgings?
Do you have a home address for her on 1939 census?
Is she on the 1911 census with parents or was she too young?

The GWR staff records are held at The National archives Kew. From 1835-1962.

I think some are on Ancestry site.

Also Swindon Cenral Library  have the "full blown run" of GWR staff magazine from 1891-1947..
These can be useful for info as to staff promotions/ leaving or promotions.
Perhaps you could contact them and see if they can help with your mother's work at Gwr or anything that mentions her?
Is she on the electoral register anywhere?

My first impression was that she could be dressed up for a wedding. I thought it looked more like a waiting room of a building rather than a house.
