Decipher parents family names from marriage certificate
« on: Monday 10 February 20 02:57 GMT (UK) »
Thank you for your help in the past about places of birth. I now would like all you very clever people to decipher the parents' family names of James Todd Chambers and Margaret Jane Meade on the previously attached marriage certificate if you don't mind.
Thurley, Chambers, Meade, Nugent, Rewell

I wonder if Alexander's occupation might be Sawyer - that and Lawyer are often and easily confused.

There are examples of 'L' in Limerick in this entry, and London in the one above; the bottom stroke in these seems rather more pronounced (and less straight) than in this letter. Is the bottom stroke here just a connecting line to the next letter?

James Todd Chambers is a widower: is his first marriage available and of any help?

Thank you again.
James Todd Chambers ended up being an Engineer but started out as a contractor so LAWYER for his Dad could be correct.
The age difference between James Todd and Margaret Jane, 21 years, may confirm that he was a widower!
The S for St Andrew does look similar to Sawyer. Is James Todd's profession shown as 'Joiner'? Joiner and Sawyer could mean they worked together or in similar fields?
His first marriage certificate is for you to find for me!

I hadn't noticed the age difference - I just read it off the marriage record. I think it says he was widowed in 1854, and that he had two children living.

I thought it might be Joiner.
