Parish marriage Ormskirk, Lancashire

looking for a parish marriage in 1860 in the 2nd Quarter for a Richard Green and Diana Ikin - yes I do have the gro details, but I would prefer the actual parish record details  please

Just to mention that the GRO index has her as  Diana IKEN. 
The reference page number is 894 and being almost the highest page in that qtr for Ormskirk reg district indicates that is possibly a registry office marriage.

LancashireBMD says the marriage was "Ormskirk Register Office or Registrar Attended".

Ormskirk Registration District was large and included North Meols (Southport). In 1861 I think Richard and Diane are living in Upper King Street in North Meols ( Actually a Road very near Lord Street Southport). The census entry is difficult to sort out but in tell us that Diana was born in Montgomeryshire and Richard in Leicestershire. They have a daughter Emily aged 14 days. The GRO Index shows the child as Emily Ada Ikin.

Richard and Emily could have married at the Register Office or at one of the Non Conformist  or Catholic churches in the area

Emily Ada was baptised at Christchurch Cof E Church Southport so I would think that the Register Office for the marriage is a good possibility. I think you will have to buy the marriage certificate to find out for definite.

Would it not figure as "registrar attending" if the marriage had taken place at, for example, a non-conformist chapel?

I may be wrong, but doesn't Registrar Attended apply to any marriage other than C of E? 

An answer from AntonyMMM - ex Registrar to a query back in the day:

For church/chapel weddings outside the established (Anglican) Church it was quite usual for a registrar to have to attend and carry our the legal formality of registration.

Not a matter of lacking trust in the minister, but of legality at the time.

It makes no practical difference to obtaining a copy of the relevant marriage certificate from GRO. It just means the original register used on the day will be held by the local registration office rather than the church.
