Major Charles Jones (d. 1843)
« on: Tuesday 04 February 20 14:21 GMT (UK) »
I know there have been several threads about this character before, but none for the last few years, so I was wondering if someone could help me flesh out his life a little.

I know he fought in Wellington's army at Waterloo, became the Duke of Cumberland's equerry and eventually moved to Germany, until 1839 when he returned to London. He accidentally shot himself with a pistol while cleaning it, in his house in Montague Square in 1843.

I'm also aware of the secret family he had with a Lavinia, as well as his two illegitimate daughters.

I'm looking for any information I can re. his military record, his time spent with the Duke of Cumberland (including the death of his valet, Sellis) and the possible blackmail(?) of him by Lavinia.

Thanks!

I am curious if you found out any additional information about Major Charles Jones or if you found places where he was written about.  Thanks

I am also curious, since I am researching his wife, Charlotte Matilda Annesley (a distant cousin).

Fred,

Welcome to RootsChat. You should be able to send him a PM yourself now, and you can change email addresses there. If you go to the menu at the top of the page and click on "My Messages" you will see your PMs there.

All the best,
Trystan
