Methodist Chapel, Silksworth graves
« on: Wednesday 22 January 20 18:42 GMT (UK) »
Hi

Could anyone tell me where people who were members of the Methodist Chapels in Silksworth buried.
I'm looking for a Mary Jane Parker who died 15 January 1922.

Thanks
Mo

Could be Ryhope Cemetery, as Silksworth was in Sunderland Rural District. One acre was set aside for non-conformists.

The burial could more likely have been in St. Matthew's Church graveyard, as a Methodist could be buried there under the Burial Laws Amendment Act 1880.
The Act granted facilities to non-conformist ministers to carry out burials in the Cof E churchyard, not using the rites of the Church of England, but those of the particular denomination involved.

Ryhope cemetery burial register is online via Family Search, but no sign there in early 1922 so maybe, as Stan suggests, buried at St Matthews.

Hi Stan and Jen

Thanks for your input and thanks for checking Ryhope cemetery.  I have already checked St Matthews, but she is not there.

Thanks again

Thanks barryb, but she was born 1857/8.  Good shout though.
