Marton Cum Moxby, Yorkshire, England
dau of Thomas Gains & Christy/Christiana (nee Miller)

no trace in 1841 census, seeking a child burial (speculation)

no marriage matches up to 1852 (freebmd)

no hits on ancestry except the baptism

Can't readily see anything for Betty, but I think this is the 1841 entry for her parents.

thanks for that - her sister became Mrs Lane then Mrs Earlam, died in 1911, Lancashire and her brother died in 1908, Amotherby, Yorkshire (according to ancestry tree matches)

I have her father Thomas Gains
b. abt 1789 in Topcliffe, Yorkshire
d. 08 APR 1845 in Easingwold, Yorkshire

and her mother Christiana (nee Miller)
b. abt 1794 in Ellingstring, Yorkshire
d. 08 SEPT 1853 in Marton In The Forest, Yorkshire

married 13 Nov 1813 at Topcliffe By Thirsk, Yorkshire

Hello again!

It was also pointed out to me the other day that there was another brother called William, before the one appearing in 1841 census!

Name William Gains
Baptism 27 Jun 1830 at Marton Cum Moxby,York
Father Thomas Gains
Mother Christiana

Now that's another missing burial I need to find! Argh!  :-\

There is a burial for William Gaines 24 April 1831/2 Marton cum Moxby aged 2. page 5 item 37
There is a burial for Edith Gains 24 Dec 1838/39 Marton cum Moxby aged 22 - page 7 item 54
years written in the margin and does not jibe with the entry above and below hence the two dates
