Thanks for all the invaluable input everyone.  Joyce is another name to add to my ever growing list.  Rauff is a bit of a conundrum in the Margaret 1542 will.  His surname is there twice and is reasonably legible as 'Haucke'.  Is this meant to be fowke, or is it a completely separate surname?  Crucial clue or tantalising red herring?

I've given this a dose of looking at and have decided that Haucke is a completely separate surname.

My favourite finding is the following
National Archives - STAC 8/139/19 Ferne v Lowe June 1615
Defendants Edward Lowe his stepson, son of Anthony Lowe esq, Jane Lowe his wife, Thomas Hall, John Morton a 'counterfeit Egiptian', William Banckes alias Debanckes, Thomas Haucke and others.  Subject: Forcible entries and attempts at murder at Alderwasley, Derbyshire
